Channeling Afrocentric Vibes

Hi guys, how are ya'll doing? I hope you're good. Over the summer, I spent a bit of time hanging with my cousin Eno and that's pretty much public knowledge because I've documented a couple of our escapades Here and Here.

I've struggled to find the word to describe Eno but after asking her and perusing through the internet, I think the word we're going with is, afrocentric. Eno is very afrocentric. She's in love with cowries, African prints, Literature essentially all things African. She happens to be legitimate style goals with the way she manages to infuse prints into her outfits makes in seem so effortless. I on the other hand usually out of place in African prints about 80% of the time and I honestly wish I knew why.

With a little inspiration from Eno, sheer curiosity, will power and determination, I decided to give printed fabric another try. Shortly after making the decision my second inspiration with regards to prints and fabrics decided to drop her clothing line and I just knew that I would be purchasing something, and I did. P.s If you don't know who I'm talking about by now, it's Sola Fagbemi.

After spending hours deliberating on which of the numerous prints to get, I settled for the FunkΓ© top and I won't lie, I started regretting not picking another print that also caught my attention but when I got it and tried it on, I knew I made the right choice and I'm loving it.

It's not one thing to buy I top, and it's another one to actually and I won't lie I was lost with how to style the top. A part of me wanted to go all out and wear a bright skirt and head wrap but then I realized that I was getting ahead of myself and decided to go with my trusty pair of jeans and a pair of converse I recently dug out of my closet.

What I wore:
Top: Sola Fagbemi
Choker: Sola Fagbemi
Jeans: River Island
Shoes: Converse
Cuff: Atmosphere

Thanks for reading and as always, stay beautiful. XXX

Do you struggle with picking fabrics?
